GROWING METHOD 1 – INDOORS

Sow the seeds in late spring in trays (flats) on moistened tissue, cover with glass and keep warm. As soon as the seedlings are large enough to handle, prick them out into 3 in. peat pots and later into 9 in. pots or growing-bags. When the plants are established and growing in height, support them with canes and ties. Pinch out the growing tip when it reaches the top of your greenhouse or cloche.

GROWING METHOD 2 – OUTDOORS

In late spring dig trenches 1 ft deep and wide, and fill with manure and soil. Sow three seeds ¾ in. deep, 2-3 ft apart, and cover with plastic bottles. When the seedlings are up, thin to the best plant at each station and cover with glass or plastic. Let the plant trail along the ground. Pinch out the tips of the sideshoots when they reach the frame or boundary, and water daily.
